definitely playable. i love the idea of immensely long moves of Q/R/Bs and also the chips idea seems well thought out and adds the necessary twist. thoroughly interesting!
Elegant, generous scale; definitely a 10!
Without the complication of the chips I would rate this excellent, as a combination of a wide-board variant and a both-sides Besiege Chess (in fact an 8x24 both-sides Besiege Chess would also be very good). One question: if a player forgets which is their own true King, can they look to check (in the non-Chess sense)?
Quite an attractive game. I am wondering what Mr. Holmes will bring us down the road. On a different note: Dale, remember to register as a ChessVariants member and then add your personal info. Impressive creations so far... I look forward to more.
Charles—
Why certainly you can look around for your own true king ... and if you do it badly enough (stopping after three peeks, saying 'Ah!', and defending it heavily) you should be able to take your next opponent to the cleaners by doing it again in sheer pretence! But that sort of calculated guile might only appeal if one enjoyed the small cash prizes scattered in there, and I take it that's not what really interests you.
