The promotion of pawns to pieces you've captured is a really interesting idea.  I also like the guard (does that piece appear elsewhere?), and the graphics are very pretty.

I've reformatted the submission to better fit our template, and picked 2011 as the invention date.

Edit: Oh, and added to the LinkText. Let me know if you don't like it.

Hi Ben, thanks for your comments. I hope you will enjoy playing xodul!

In respect to the piece "guard", its movement as appears in xodul was my idea; so, I think it doesn't appear elsewhere like this. The inspiration was the guard of xiang-qi, but xodul's guards are different: in xiang-qi the guard is limited to the same zone during the whole game, whereas in xodul it can virtually be placed in any square of the board providing that it follows its rule at each movement.

The main year of this game invention was in fact 2011, as you picked:
- the xodul.com website was registered in 1st july, 2011;
- the 1st tweet of xodul was published on 2nd july, 2011...

some details have been adjusted after that... the final version is of 20th december, 2017.
