Alice Shatranj!! I wonder how this will work out.

Er .. I hope if there is a discreption of sorts for the variants in this
zillions file, for people who don't use zillions.

Great project! I second Abdul-Rahman's suggestion, could you add separate description pages for these games?

sorry yep there will be seperate pages done for each game, but you can see
descriptions of each game here (starting half way down the page)
http://www.chessvariants.org/index/msdisplay.php?itemid=MPtheshortrangep
(ohhh not having zillions, how can a chess variant lover do without it!)
Joe will be doing pages for each game soon, i don't know why he is taking
so long :)

Hello Christine:

I had discussed contributing SHORANJI and SHORANJI Maximus with Joe -- those stand for 'Short Range Joyce Inspired' as his persistance led to their creation. Their predecessor is Six Fortresses Short Range - which Joe also talked me into creating... and no wonder, he plays it much better than I do. :(

Anyway, all 3 games are 'Short Range Projects' that you and Joe can use for inclusion in your project. Best of luck to you and Joe... and thanks to both of you in regard to your short range games dedication and endeavors. Sincerely, Gary

Christine reported (a while before the OS update) that the zip was missing on this page as well as Gods on Pluto (and probably others). On one of the pages, the member upload folder was missing, and in the other it was empty (but in playing with them, I think I created the missing folder).

Just now I tried to copy the zip from the ZoG site, using the link in this page. When trying to upload using the Upload/Manage Files script, I get this error:

Upload of /home/chessvariants/public_html/membergraphics/MZshortrange-project/The_ShortRange_Project.zip was allowed but failed! The cause of failure is unknown.

I got the same file from Zillions-of-Games and got the same error as you did. I traced the error to a recent change I had made to the location of the temporary directory used for uploads. After I undid these changes and rebooted the server, the upload worked.

This download link doesn't work again sorry.

Joe, i'm blaming you!!

Hmm, the folder is mis-specified. It links to /membergraphics/MZtheshortrangep/, but the real folder is /membergraphics/MZshortrange-project/. Since Fergus just fixed this, I'd prefer to leave it and see if there's some continuing problem; but the fix is reasonably straightforward.

I just corrected that.

Since Fergus just fixed this,

My earlier comment about fixing something was about fixing the ability to upload files.
