Texas Two-Step: an obscure political commentary

"Shall we dance?"

This is a pawnless Chancellor Chess variant.

Setup

Setup is as pictured. Click on the image to get the preset.

Pieces

The pieces are the standard FIDE pieces plus the Chancellor, the Rook-kNight combination piece.

Rules

The board is spun 90 degrees.

No piece may move more than 2 squares.

Bishops have a 1-square backwards move in addition to their normal diagonal move.

Except where otherwise noted, all rules of FIDE chess apply.

Notes

This game is subtitled: "an obscure political commentary" for reasons that will become obvious during play.

The "Nuclear Option" variant, where all pieces move normally, is not recommended.
