Hi Aurelian,
I assume this all matches what is on the game page for this game? We generally do not repeat all of that on the game courier preset page. I admit, having a game page and a GC preset page is somewhat redundant, but duplicating the description on both would be even more redundant. Is it ok if I reduce this to a link to the preset and a preview picture?
Yes, sure! I'll do it this evening!...
I have made the picture with the appropriate link. The same for my other game!
When I click on the image, it brings up a preset that has the brouhaha squares in the corners. That is old, isn't it?
Oh, yes! I'll fix it imediatly!
Fixed!
To me this preset is ok, but someone made a challenge featuring an older preset. May someone check if the preset is the proper one please?
Anyone?
I don't see what would be abnormal
If there is something different from the article in the initial position! Something like the brouhaha squares being in the corner!
Aurelian, I saw that yesterday. I know how I did: When I look on your preset page on Safari (with a McBook), if I click on the diagram, I get the nominal preset. But if I look under the diagram there is the sentence "Apothecary Chess - Classic is an Grand Chess and Omega Chess inspired large board variant that features the joker who imitates the last moved enemy piece at every turn, along with the capablanca compounds and two new minor pieces of which one (the siege elephant) is specific only to this game at the time of the game's creation." This sentence is preceded by a small blue square with a question mark ?, like an image which doesn't show. If I right-click on it and select "show in an other page", I get the diagram with the Brouhaha squares in the corners in a different preset.
Hope this helps
Ok, Thanks Very Much
@Fergus, @Richard Milner - if you may help
A few days ago Richard Milner issued some apothecary chess classic challenges that have shown an older attempt of mine (with the brouhaha squares in the corner). This should not have happened so I had asked around. Jean-Louis found out that on Mac there was button that was leading to the wrong preset (that preset does actually exist but the game page shows something else). I had used a mac and deleted a small part of the code written in the page in the apothecary chess classic page code, and I had seen that button missing. I do not know what happens now, but I'm not seeing the code anymore but Richard Milner managed to make a wrong challenge again. I still do not know what he did. Fergus, have you any idea about what is going on?
I don't use a Mac, though I don't think the computer one is using would make a difference. The preset for this page is
The preset for the open invitation Richard Milner made and the games he is playing is this:
These are the same. So, I don't know what the problem is.
It is about this preset: https://www.chessvariants.com/play/pbm/play.php?game=Apothecary+Chess-Classic&settings=ApothecaryChess-Classic
and this invitation:
Mac uses a different browser. I think that is the differentce.
Perhaps he was just using the list of all games, where it's not clear at all which version is the right one.

That makes sense. This is why you should forward invitations from a deprecated preset to the official preset.
That is probably the case. How do I fix that? It goes the same for apothecary chess modern.
Put the name of the settings file you want to use in the Redirect field for the deprecated preset. Then, when someone tries to invite someone to play with the deprecated preset, the new one will be used instead.
Thanks, Fergus! It now works as intended.
No, actually it does not. It works well when choosing the normal link. But when choosing the deprecated link, after the challenge is made, when one tries to accept the game reverts to regular chess (the default one).
It looks like it is working correctly now. I had to include a line in the invitation form with the settings value. Once I did that, the invitation I sent to myself was for the correct settings file.
Thanks!
This preset and the Apothecary Chess-Modern one, are broken. The problem seems to be with the rank labels. The rank labelled 0 is removed from the setup, but if you change the rank label to something else it will display properly.
