Adrian should be getting email whenever a comment is made on one of his pages. I can also forward email to Adrian if anyone wishes to contact him.
Must be a fun game... once you've memorized all the pieces.
It ses: WWW page created: 1999. Transferred to the chessvariants.com on 12 Oct 2001. Last modified on: October 12, 2001. It also ses that it wil be fixed soon, but still its not fixed! Wen will it be fixed? Thay forgot sum stuf about the peces, and thay hav to put it in ther soon, becuse it has to be finsished so that sumbudy can play the game.
Why might the Great Dragon be less powerful than the Water Buffalo?
Adrian states that a ZRF was under production before the summer of 1999. Does anyone know the status of this implementation?
breadman wrote: 'Why might the Great Dragon be less powerful than the Water Buffalo?' They both have the same Rook components. However, the Water Buffalo can also move as a Bishop, but the Great Dragon's Bishop move is restricted to three squares.
Right; I question the names, not the moves: 'Great Dragon' sounds like something that could have a water buffalo for breakfast.
Adrian, what is the status of your ZRF for this game?
I'm afraid I haven't looked at this page in years, and I'm not sure what I've done with the ZRF I'd started working on. Perhaps a project for someone else, or for when I retire...
Did you ever finish the description of the game, or the images of the pieces not included on this page?
There are still several pieces missing their moving/taking rules. Will this be fixed soon?
how does the rankrider and go along move forward, or promote?
the hawklet is too powerful according to your criteria to be a starting piece
In follow-up to Typhoon, Adrian King adds in year 2001 Dervish (A,D), Go Away (W,F + more), Blue Gecko (W,F + more differently), Drunk Elephant (F,A capture only,N,W move only). Also Blind Tiger (F,W move only,N capture only,D), Kamikaze (W,D,A), to name a few.
Overly large, not every piece described, some incongruencies (ie. West and East General, also not represented.) 8/13/13: Wow. Just wow. That was harsh. Why not pursue massive sizes of game? But, still, you need to fix the lack of pieces!
I can't find any reference to the East and West General, either. I think it's because I never put them in this game. But surely there's room for them in Jupiter's successor... Some of the ambiguities in the rules are clarified (I hope) in the revision at http://www.chessvariants.org/index/msdisplay.php?itemid=MSjupiter%28revise.
Typhoon is FA + R3, tri-compound. Emperor of E. has all three of Strong's and Joyce's NWH plus FDATZC, 9-compound reaching everything within the 7x7.
This, sir, is crazy insane!!!
Very cool. Just WOW. New bucket list item: play full game of Jupiter with a physical copy.....
