There will be a zrf for this release, which i'll link on this page. At the top of the page. The screenshot shows all the pieces, (as they are on the zrf) the zrf has 'variants' with only King and pawns so people can add the pieces to click on them to see how they move. This zrf is done already so it will be up here very soon.
I like the way it is presented, with the zog code. I don't find it that 'strange'. I really like it actually.
I don't mind the name too, 'Fairy Pieces Part 2 Volume 1'. Looking on google, it says about the word volume -- 'a book forming part of a work or series'.
Anyways, I'm very happy with it, can you please allow it!!.
Fairy Chess Part 1 does have a bit of code, true, not as much as this one, but please H. G., it's how I want to express myself, please please please please please :)
I now implemented backup moves; below is an example with the Swedish Cannon. (Flush browser cache, view in isolation.)
Seems that turning on upside down makes the coordinate labels super messed up.

A similar idea would be that capturing some piece gives your opponent an extra move. I once tried to play chess like that but it was unclear if it worked well or not. It might be interesting to apply these concepts to weaker pieces.
Tag descriptions only appear on hover when editing existing submissions, not while creating new submissions.
Perhaps the pawns could be replaced with berolina pawns?

Alright, I've changed the title to 'Fairy Pieces Part 2', future releases can just go 'part 3' and 'part 4' etc.
I'll look at the way it is written later, the 'strange code' thing, but I don't really see it as that codey really, it is pretty easy to read.
Oh, i see it still as 'fairy pieces part 2 volume 1' in the ITEM ID but I cannot seem to change that myself, otherwise it is showing as 'Fairy Pieces Part 2'.

That has the potential to be messy. What if the opponent captures such an 'extra retaliation' victim with the first of the two moves he gets? Or with both? OTOH, an extra move you get yourself after you capture something is equivalent to an immediate forced turn pass, which can never lead to any backlog, because during a pass you cannot do anything.
How would Christian Freeling's classic game work with Roses?
It wouldn't.
Alright, I think it looks great. Yes there are some '\' like this, but they are really required unless I do a space between most of them, which would be too much and looking confusing, and long, because when giving info on a piece, I may talk about something for a few lines, then i go to an entire new comment, different game or what not, a different reference. They are indeed in 'Fairy Chess Part 1' and people praised that release and no one said anything about it for 12 years lol, so, I hope it's all good!!
I said at the top of this page now that I'll have the zrf for this game within 2 weeks so people can easily see 'first hand' how the pieces move.
I don't understand the move of the rook (Swedish cannon?)
One more time. This is ready for review!
Oops, I forgot to change this back after using the Diagram for testing the newly implemented 'backup moves' with the Swedish Cannon. It should be fixed now.

This is quite interesting. The shock rule basically makes for a really nice altternative to Chu Shogi's Lion-trading rules.

Indeed. So there actually already exists an application of such a feature. Perhaps I should implement it. (But for now only with a single backup move set.)
Another interesting feature could be something I have just seen on chess.com: capturing a piece of a particular type could give you an extra move. (Or, equivalently, force the opponent to pass his turn because he is 'in shock'.) This is a powerful anti-trading rule, which has about the same effect as the Chu-Shogi Lion-capture rules. You cannot attack such a 'shock piece' with its counterpart in order to trade it directly, as it would capture you, and use the extra move to withdraw, hit -and-run style. And you cannot make a counter-attack on the opponents shock piece when your own is threatened by something else, as the opponent would capture your shock piece, and use the extra move to withdraw his own.
