Why do I think that 4 squares in either direction is a more faithful castling procedure? ;)
That is precisely why I left it up to players to agree amongst themselves as to which method of castling is best. When castling in orthodox Chess, the king moves to either the bishop's or knight's square (depending on which colour is playing and whether they make a long or short castle). If you believe moving 4 squares in either direction is more faithful to the original game, then by all means, you're more than welcome to play it that way. Think of this game as semi-customizable. The rules may be customized but only within the confines of orthodox chess, although I think I have covered all possibilities. For example, you can place the kings to the right of the queen instead of the left, as mentioned in the instructions.
