I've only played this once, but it feels right somehow. The hexagonal board, oriented horizontally like this, gives a distinct chess experience that square boards generally lack. It feels more natural than square shogi to me.

Hello,
I have just started a game courier game, of Hexshogi91 against Erik. I was wondering if anyone has written any theory on it. Some principles of regular shogi probably apply like use early move for castling, but some don't apply, like for example moving you knight in this game could be less risky. The game does definitely sounds very interesting
