This can be played with two standard sets distinguishable by size. The large set can have their usual rôles along with small King for Prince, small Queen for Princess, small Bishop for Duke, small Knight for Wizard, small Rook for Dragon, and small Pawns and upturned Rook for Subjects.

Yeah one can have two sets one large and one small too add for the new pawns. When testing it we drew a board on cardboard and used such large and small pawns to complete the chessmen. It took a while until the moves came second nature but after a few games we found it quite addictive.
