Is there a special name for the Knight in this game? It is not in any of the other historic Shogi variants, but is in several of my own and I'd like to mention the Japanese name (both phonetic and translated) in brackets as I do with the King, Rook, Bishop, et cetera. In return I have some guidance on the English name - the misspelling 'Kinght' is very distracting because it begins with the name of a very different piece!

Named ¤K¤è®Û(Habon Kei= Eight directions Kinght) in Japanese, this variant was ever played by two Shogi Pro-players:¤ì¨£ª÷ªv­¦(Kinjiro Kimi) and ¨Á¥Ð¤T¦N(Sankigi Hata ) in 1950.

'Knight AND PROMOTED KNIGHT can also move as knight in chess'. -Does it mean that promoted knight is compound of western knight and gold general? Another question: do chess knight transforms into shogi knight and vice versa when dropped by opponent?

Yes, promoted-Kinghts could move like Knight or Gold General. 

This Shogi variant was ever played in 1950.
