It is also possible to have a pawn structure that lacks mirror symmetry. I imagine this could lead to more active play, with both sides attacking simultaneously. Examples are: Burmese Chess and Mir Chess (the version with 32 pieces). Mir Chess GIF diagrams can be found in the Game Courier Preset.
