You can now use 'R' and 'r' for Archers/Rifles/Rangers. Note, this is only visible at the bottom of page for the presets, and are there are no presets with these pieces in the starting array. Either edit an existing Rococo preset, or start your game with something like R-f1;P c2-b3.

The description of the notation to use in the preset that enforces rules is too unclear. Even though I have the advantage of having created Game Courier, I don't understand it.

White/Black piece on e1 is immobilized and commits suicide: @-e1
(the preset wouldn't accept it as move 1, because of comparisons between
this move's parameters and last move's parameters, but Rococo features
no suicide at move 1 anyway)

White Swapper on e1 moves to unoccupied square e2: S e1-e2
White Swapper on e1 trades positions with White/Black piece on e2: S
e1-e2
White Swapper on e1 explodes with Black piece on e2: S e1-e2; @-e2

White Archer on e1 moves to unoccupied square e2: B e1-e2
White Archer on e1 kills Black piece on e2: B e1-e2

I chose B/b (Bowman) for Archers (and later D/d for Birds) and read
Peter's comment only after Michael and Roberto started a game of Fugue,
so I haven't corrected that inconsistency.

If an Advancer begins its turn adjacent to an enemy piece, is it allowed to
forgo movement, and instead capture the adjacent piece, refraining from
actually moving into that space? or is movement a mandatory part of the
Advancer's method of capturing?

Is it safe to move a piece up to an enemy Advancer, positioning it right
next to it, in order to hem it in?

As I was attempting to navigate my way around the website, clicking all
over the place (not at all an easy thing for someone like me to do), I
think I found the answer to my own question: the Advancer really does
have to make a nominal movement of some kind 'towards' the enemy in
order to capture it.

Does the rules enforcing preset for stariaght Rococo have a bug? I'm wondering due to Francis' last comment in the following log:

/play/pbm/play.php?game=Rococo&log=sissa-tamandua-2013-194-086&movenum=40&submit=View&orientation=auto&scale=100&render=table&shape=square&set=alfrococo&colors=229933+DDDD22+BBBBBB+005500

I don't think it's bugged. "P a6-a8;L-a8" seems to allow the Cannon Pawn to promote.
