Summoner's Chess. Pieces are created and improved through the use of cards.[All Comments] [Add Comment or Rating]

I looked at this game to see an example of the use of card commands, but it
doesn't seem to work. If I click 'move pieces by yourself' then I see a
space for 7 cards in my hand, but they all look the same (maybe I'm just
seeing the back of the cards.) So, I tried starting a normal game by
sending myself an invitation. In this case, I see nothing, no space for
cards at all...

P.S. are there any other G.C. presets that use cards?

I got farther than Greg did in 2006, perhaps, when playing vs. myself with this preset. I tried typing "load cards;deal 1" for White's first turn, and then I saw just the backside of 1 card (rather than the seven backsides of cards originally showing). However typing "load cards;deal 1;play 1" or "load cards;deal 1;discard 1" instead for White's first turn results in an error message in either case, though one error message is plain text, while another shows parts of the card array in alphanumeric apparently, besides the message part in plain text.

This is a bit unfortunate as I'm toying with the idea of a card playing variant of my own. This man's preset seems to be the only one so far submitted to CVP. Thus I don't know if the GC card commands fully work, or if the preset has bug(s). It's also a bit frustrating never to see what a card looks like face up on the screen. :(
