'It moves one square in any direction, but may be placed or left en prise.' What does that mean, exactly? I know 'en prise' means that it can be taken but how exactly does this affect the movement of the queen?
Jeremy, that is a traditional way of describing a 'nonroyal king'. On this site we (mostly) use the name 'commoner' for such pieces.
Thank you, David. I thought it meant perhaps that it was invincible. lol. I usually think of them as 'guards' but am very familiar with the 'commoner' or non-royal king terminology too. Sometimes 'Man.'
