A good way of dealing with a wide range of different player strengths, although insisting that the stronger player mate within a suitable number of moves would work just as well with the FIDE array. Technically the adjective should be Uniregal (as the other cases of rex are regem, regis, regi, reges &c.) but perhaps as the inventor of Tryzantine Chess I shouldn't throw stones!

I suggest to use a pie rule: The side without king is made stronger (like
in the first game where black has a queen for the king), and one player
sets the maximal number of moves to mate, then the other player chooses a
side.
