Proximity Chess
Setup
The initial 8x8 array is the same as that of Orthodox Chess.
Pieces
All pieces are unchanged from Orthodox Chess.
Rules
All rules are the same as in Orthodox Chess, except for as follows:
After White makes the opening move, for each following move, the player is restricted as to which pieces may be moved. The player must move the man closest to the arrival square of the last piece moved by the opponent. A couple things to note:
- Selection of nearest piece is restricted to pieces with legal moves. A piece which has no legal moves is not considered.
- If two pieces are the same distance from the arrival square, the current player may choose which to move.
