Skica
Skica is a decimal chess variant, extending the standard setup with Ski pieces and the Camels and Wildebeest from Wildebeest Chess.
Setup
Pieces
The Pawn, Knight, Bishop, Rook, King, and Queen all have their standard moves.
The Ski-Rook moves as a Rook, but always jumps over the first square in its path, whether or not it is occupied.
The Ski-Bishop moves as a Bishop, but always jumps over the first square in its path, whether or not it is occupied.
The Camel makes a 3,1 leap in any direction.
The Wildebeest moves as a Knight or a Camel.
The Ski-Queen moves as a Queen but always jumps over the first square in its path, whether or not it is occupied.
Rules
All rules are as in Chess, with these exceptions.
Castling
When castling, the king moves threespaces in either direction rather than two.
Promotion
Pawns can promote upon reaching any of the last three ranks. On the 8th rank, a pawn may promote to a Wildebeest. On the 9th rank, a pawn may promote to a Ski-Queen. If a pawn reaches the 10th rank, it must promote to a Queen.
