Poison Pawn Chess

Setup

Same as Chess.

Pieces

All pieces move like in FIDE chess, except that when the game starts each player secretly chooses one of his own pawns to be a poisoned pawn. The pawns that start on files D and E cannot be poisoned. Once a poisoned pawn promotes, that piece is no longer poisoned.

Rules

FIDE Chess rules apply, but with the following winning conditions added:

• If a player captures a poisoned pawn, that player loses.
• If a player captures a poisoned pawn with a poisoned pawn, that player wins.
• If a player captures a non-poisoned piece with a poison pawn, that player loses.
