Check out Janggi (Korean Chess), our featured variant for November, 2024.

This page is written by the game's inventor, Lev Grigoriev.

Heavenly Queen Chess

Really thx to CVP articles and Play-Test Applet, they inspired and helped to create this.

Pieces

Heavenly Queen replaces regular Queen. To move without taking she must hop over any piece on her way (both straight or diagonal lines) to land on any square behind it. She can't hop over more than one piece per move. However she takes the first piece if it's foe exactly as Queen in chess.

Rules

Besides mentioned above, exactly as in FIDE chess (incl. possible checkmate with Queen).

Notes

This class of pieces which hop to move but not to take is known and called Argentinian (why?) hoppers.

This variant is playable on Game Courier.
