Eric Angelini mentioned to me the following variant, that he plays with a friend Daniel:

The game is played with the same array, board, pieces, and (most) rules as in normal chess, but

• If black castles long, black wins the game.
• If white can make sure that black can never castle long, then white wins the game. E.g., white wins as soon as the black king moves without castling long, etc.
