Tile Chess is a commercial chess variant, published by Steve Jackson Games. Chess pieces are depicted on tiles. There is no board in this game, or, differently stated, the tiles with the pieces form the board. The game is appeared in 1999, and costed $14.95. It is now out of print. A set contains 6 sets of tiles, such that the game can be played with 2 to 6 players.

For an older chess variant where the board is formed by cards with symbols of chess pieces on them, see Chex.
