Accelerated Constabulary Chess

Accelerated Constabulary Chess came about when I thought of having a somewhat similar game to an earlier variant idea of mine that's also played on a (8x10) board, namely (Constabulary Chess).

In 2023, Dr. H.G. Muller, not always liking the ferfil piece type, had suggested I use a couple of stronger piece types (a Dragon Horse and a Dragon King), in the case of (16x8) Constable-Spiel, another variant idea of mine (with the same piece types as in the earlier Constabulary Chess). I liked his idea, though to be as a seperate variant from Constable-Spiel (which I called Accelerated Constable-Spiel), and I also will try to successfully apply his idea here as well, on an 8x10 board in this case.

Presets are available for play on Game Courier. Accelerated Constabulary Chess does not enforce rules, while Accelerated Constabulary Chess does enforce rules.

Setup

Pieces

Accelerated Constabulary Chess uses the 6 piece types of orthodox chess, plus 5 unorthodox piece types:

A Warmachinewazir - also known as a Woody Rook; it moves like a wazir (moves one step orthogonally, i.e. by rank or file) or like a dabbabah (leaps two squares orthogonally).

A Waffle - also known as a Phoenix; it moves like a wazir or alfil (leaping two squares diagonally).

A Kirin moves like a dabbabah or ferz (one step diagonally).

A Dragon Horse moves like a bishop or wazir.

A Dragon King moves like a rook or ferz.

Rules

Accelerated Constabulary Chess follows the rules of chess, except as noted below.

In Accelerated Constabulary Chess, castling is as in chess (though on the second rank). Pawns move as in chess and promotion is on the last rank, to any piece type in the setup, except for K.

Threefold repetition of position or stalemate is a draw as in chess, and the 50 move rule is also in effect (i.e. game drawn if no captures or pawn moves have been made before 50 consecutive moves by both sides).

Notes

Note that in Accelerated Constabulary Chess, Fool's Mate and versions of Scholar's Mate are possible, like in orthodox chess.
