Check out Janggi (Korean Chess), our featured variant for December, 2024.

Since Java is no longer supported in most browsers, our Java applets probably will not run unless you install an extension that will run them. We recommend installing the CheerpJ Applet Runner extension on Edge, Chrome, or another Chromium browser. If your browser still does support Java, and you're not using this extension, make sure this site is listed in your Java exceptions list. You should find this in the Security tab of your Java control panel.

Strip Chess II

If you had a Java-capable browser, you could play Strip Chess here.

"Strip Chess" was played in the movie Two Weeks Notice. The rules were not given.

I found this variant online. Capturing a piece (not a pawn) results in clothing being replaced by the capturer or removed by the player whose unit was captured.

Ordinarily one piece is removed, or two if the capturer is a pawn and/or the queen is captured. Clothing can only be replaced if the capturing unit is a king or queen. If the king or queen captures the enemy queen, two pieces of clothing are removed by the side whose queen was captured, or two pieces replaced by the capturer, or one each.

Checkmate is three pieces of clothing.

Castling allows the player to replace one piece of clothing.

Keep playing chess games until a game ends with one player naked and the other not. If both are naked, it is a draw.
