Wormhole Chess preset for Game Courier

Wormhole Chess

Wormhole Chess, created by Fergus Duniho, is a game in which each space disappears after a piece moves from it, leaving a wormhole that affects the movement of pieces moving through it. As a consequence of this, no game may last more than 32 turns. A piece may not land on a wormhole, but instead passes through it to the next space on the other side. This game is similar to Parton's Chesire Cat Chess, but was created in ignorance of it. The main difference between them is that this game replaces all riders with leapers to maximize the effect of the wormholes. This preset has been programmed to enforce the rules, to delete spaces, and to spot check, checkmate, and stalemate. It uses thicker borders to prevent empty ranks and files from collapsing into thin ranks and files.
