Quang Trung Chess Pictures
This is the fourth set in a series of pictures of chess variant sets. The theme of the series is that all the sets are finalists in the 1999 Large Variant Contest. The pictures below are of Vu Vo's Quang Trung Chess. The board pictured is composed of individual tiles created by Fergus Duniho as part of his Chess Variant Construction Set. The board is unusual due to the two column areas on each side which certain pieces are restricted from moving into. Standard chess pieces were used, except of course, for the Elephant, for which we used a miniature elephant piece from Fergus' collection.
The set looks nice with this board, especially with the lighting, which divides the light and dark pieces.
The pictures for the previous set (Vyrémorn Chess) are here. The pictures for the next set (King's Court) are here.
Pictures taken by David Howe.
Chess boards based on Fergus Duniho's Chess Construction Set.
