On SchemingMind.com they use JavaScript, so that the move can be entered without connection to server. I think the same would be nice here. It 's fine not to have any check for valid moves or highlight the move. Text entry is certainly very flexible, but it takes more time, especially when playing on unusual boards (like circular) or with non-standard pieces.
