great 'shatranj like' pieces .. concerning rook or dabbaba, both variants would be ok, but i do feel the dabbaba is a cool piece, fits in well with the others, and should not be too weak combined with the other 'strong' pieces.

looks terrific, interesting pieces, i like the way you have the 'grand
chess' set up, and great to see 10 pieces only in total on a 10x10
board.
some people go crazy with the amount of pieces they use :))
lol

i update you :)
he he, ok i updated this game, well i gave it it's 2nd variant, i
replaced the knight with the 'butterfly elephant' to make a 'pure'
shatranj elephants game (it's what the elephants wanted)

and i update you, yes only 1 day after release an update, shoot me lol, i had to do it, i added 'makruk' variant, 2 variants, one with pawns on 2nd rank cause 'armies' is played with drops etc etc, but i think the true makruk variant is fine cause of the 'khon' (Thai Bishop/elephant), i.e. handles pawn drops.

just guessing, i would say pawns can promote from the 8th rank on, meaning promotion zone is final 3 ranks, so you don't have to promote on 8th etc how come this game is only a preset, i can't find any other info on it

i think 7 mirrors is pretty good, as you say, it can be tricky/complicated
to see everything going on, but of course a larger variant with more
mirrors would be great. Still, i feel 7 mirrors most likely best.
Just concerned about how complicated and difficult more mirrors would make
the game. Congratulations Gary, great game, as usual :)

people resign games, most games are won that way.
someone will see that they are going to get checkmated in a few moves, so
they resign, or if they are positionally or materially lost they will
resign.

yes this is a great game, David and i had a game on game courier, it is
nice playing with the general (dragonhorse) and cannon, combined with rook
knight and elephant/fers (which i like to call 'ferfil').
Opening pawn set up is very interesting too. All these things makes for
open and exciting play. Cool game. (David, i was trying to email you, but
there is a prob)

i have updated this with a new zrf called 'MirChess32', it is David
Paulowich's Mir Chess. David has also made a game called 'Flying Mir
Chess' for this zrf, check them out they play very nice.
i have also made a couple of games based on these games.

i tried to update this in the 'what's new' but got this message ..

Error performing query: Duplicate entry 'MZflyingarmies2' for key 1

(i just wanted to say 'added 'mirchess32' zrf)

maybe you can't update a game that is already just updated :)

💡📝Christine Bagley-Jones wrote on Sat, Jul 29, 2006 04:41 PM UTC:
well, it seems to have gone in the 'what's new' now, but it says 'added
Makruk zrf (that was last update)
it should say 'added 'mirchess32' zrf

added 'Bases3 -sliders sang' variant to 9x9 board*, and the last 2
variants on the 8x8, all 'slider' variants.
i think it is pretty funny playing with the sang (Korean elephant) and
camelslider on the 9x9 and 10x10, these long sliders, in a game with
drops.
* pretty sure that was it

Well i think this looks great, it has my fav pieces. With promotion zone
last 3 ranks and game played with drops, play should be fast paced. It has
a nice shatranj feel to it.
Even though i most likely prefer promoted pieces reverting back to pawns,
i think it is interesting and fun the way it plays in this game. For sure,
when promoting, you would have to consider things differently.
Gary, i was going to say, defence will be important, because pro zone is 3
ranks, pawn drops will be deadly, and wazir and fers could often be hard
pressed to defend, and just before i looked at your game going at the
moment on game courier :)

wow, this looks very interesting, i wish i knew what it all meant though,
what does 'activating' a piece mean, is it a move to activate, do you
see movement when you activate, i activate you, did you or i move?
If a chief activates a piece, can another chief then activate that same
piece, and then does that piece go really fast? :)
i will have to watch the game being played on game courier, there is a
game yes? (edit- yes your playing Gary, i just looked)

Christine Bagley-Jones wrote on Thu, Aug 3, 2006 04:59 PM UTC:
ok how does a knight move as a 'knight-fers' .. does it take 2 chiefs to do that?
