Perhaps the value-tests for weak pieces should be performed with armies that include even weaker pieces, such as Wazir, Ferz, or Crab, to reduce the impact of the leveling effect. (One might argue that Pawns should suffice, and perhaps they do, but they are very weird pieces.)
