indeed, breadman is correct. i will have to update the page. <P> checkmate can't be forced tho, in the diagram, if it is white to move, it means black must have just played K a7-a8, in which case he also had the option of capturing the W. (and if the white K is on c7 instead, W b6-b7 is no longer checkmate.) <P> also, i will have to look into my statement that 'stalemate is a win' in ultima, i think i based that claim on the zillions' implementation, which is different from the official rules for technical reasons. <P>
