How do the pieces move ? (especially the two knight-looking pieces.)

Rules and link to zillions. Those knights in Leapers Maoking move like guards + maos.

If one made the small steps directionally oriented backwards, so that the pieces could leap far forward and only slightly backwards, then these pieces could mingle with other types of pieces, not just among other odd leapers as in CBJ's Sky. That was my idea behind my (yet unreleased) catfish piece which is an (0,5) leaper that can move backwards like a ferz and alfil or a (0,3) sideways leaper. I can't vouch for the viability of the catfish yet.

Very interesting-looking game, sort of a big ole game to go and bash around in for a while. Practically guaranteed to last a bit, giving people a chance to match up several different short range pieces. It's nice enough to rate 'good' without even playing it. [And, along with Jeremy's 'catfish' comment, it gives me an idea for a new chesimal piece type, something I've needed for a little while.] So, Christine and Jeremy, thanks! Nice game, ought to be fun to play, good to see this on game courier. Great job.

One of the ways one can apply directionality to such pieces is to make them radially directional rather than have that directionality defined by forwards, sideways or backwards motions. In other words, a radially directional giraffe / centripetal-ferz could have the option of moving one ferz move toward the center of the board. Just a passing thought that emerged from a conversation with Joe Joyce where he pointed out that a Falcon starting on the edge of a 4 x 4 set of squares will never be able to access the center four squares but only skirt around them. On a 5 x 5 set of squares, a Falcon can never access the central square. Same is true of a knight starting on the edge of a 3 x 3 set of squares.
