I now enhanced the EGT generator to also handle divergent moves, and added buttons to the move-definition aid that would add such moves to a previously made definition.

Diceroller is Fire wrote on Tue, Sep 10, 2024 06:13 PM UTC in reply to H. G. Muller from 05:32 PM:

But why piece made by buttons always includes king’s moves?

💡📝H. G. Muller wrote on Tue, Sep 10, 2024 06:33 PM UTC in reply to Diceroller is Fire from 06:13 PM:

Like the button says, it adds the specified moves. So if the piece is already a King (like it is when you first load the page), it adds them to a King. If you want to add them to another piece, you should first define that piece through the 'Set moves' button.

💡📝H. G. Muller wrote on Tue, Sep 10, 2024 08:00 PM UTC:

An interesting case is a Bishop that also attacks the square right in front of it, but cannot move there (BfcW). On 8x8 about half of the positions is won. Which is an intermediate value. It appears there also is a fortress draw here: once the bare King reaches the back-rank corner of the other shade than the (augmented) Bishop is on, there is no way to smoke it out. Since the Bishop cannot attack that corner, the King can always return there after zugzwang forced it to leave it; as long as the bare King stays on a square adjacent to the corner the other King cannot attack that square either.

If we also add a color-switching move (e.g. BfW or BfcWbmW), all corners can be attacked, and nearly all positions are won.

I recently fixed my old computer. All that was wrong with it was the power button, which I replaced with an OwlTree external power button. The product page now includes my review of it with some photographs. I now have both computers set up so that I can use either one. Both plug into the same monitor through different ports, and if I have both on, I can just switch between DVI and DisplayPort to choose which computer to use. I used an audio splitter to send the audio from either computer to my speakers. I bought a second ethernet cable to plug into my router, and I dug out a spare keyboard and mouse so that I can just turn on either computer without switching peripherals around.

The main advantages of continuing to use my older computer are that it handles some games I play better, it has all the fonts I previously installed on it, and I don't have to worry about it running Recall in the background. The main advantages of the newer computer are that it starts up faster, and Microsoft will be supporting it longer than my Windows 10 computer. But when Microsoft drops its support for Windows 10, I may continue to get security updates for it with 0patch.

Here is a screenshot I took showing some reports on its specs:

Colors are a drawback when you don't use marker symbols for highlighting the possible moves.

I agree the I.D. in the article is not very pleasing aestethically, and having two diagrams of the initial setup is redundant. It would be better to replace the first diagram by an identically looking I.D.. Perhaps I will do that one of these days.

Basic endgame analysis is now easy with Muller's Checkmating Applet.

King and Wildebeest can force a stalemate victory in 29 moves or less. NOTE: on a 12x12 board, the endgame could last as long as 37 moves.

Over on the Piececlopedia: Gnu page, George Duke mentions that the Bison can return to its original square in five moves. The example below makes three Camel moves, followed by two Zebra moves. Strictly speaking, this is not triangulating (three moves).
