Logs for Bland Chess 46.

* Pawn (P): It can move one space forward per turn.

(A) When a player starts with two normal War Machines: (a)that player's pawns can capture in the same way that they move. (b)That player's pawns can promote to War-machine or Rook on the opponent's first row. Pawns on the "F" file can move sideways (and capture sideways) due to missing squares. But only when on the f-file and moving off of it.

(B) When a player starts with other than two normal War Machines (such as War Machine and Knight, two Knights, or Modern War Machine and Knight, etc): (a)that player's pawns can not capture! (b)That player's pawns can promote to any of the pieces he started with War-machine,Rook,Knight,or Modern War Machine [depending on his start pieces] when a pawn reaches his opponent's first row. Pawns on the "F" file can move sideways (but can not capture) But can only move sideways when on the f-file and moving off of it.

* War-machine: It can leap 2 spaces orthogonally.

* Modern War-machine: It can leap 2 spaces orthogonally or move one space orthogonally.

* Knight: Same as in chess.

* Rook: Same as in chess.

* King: As a Wazir (one space orthoganlly, no diagonal moves).

Rules

Similar to chess rules. However, there is no castling, no double-space pawn moves. Capture the opponent's king to win.

The players, prior to the start of a game, may replace one or both of their War Machines with either a Knight, or a Modern War Machine. If a player starts with both normal War Machines his pawns can capture (as they move-- see pawns rules) otherwise pawns cannot capture. Also, promotion aspect is different for those starting with two War Machines.
