Macrochess

This page contains one or more presets for playing a game online with Game Courier, an online server for playing Chess variants by correspondence.

This is a Game Courier preset enforcing the rules for Robert Potter's Macrochess. This chess variant was designed "to be like Chu Shogi, but geared more toward our western thinking."

It is played over a 12x12-square board. Each player has a big army of 48 pieces.

It is a rare chess variant to use the elemental Ferz, Wazir, Alfil and Dabbaba "atoms".

Notes

Note from Jean-Louis Cazaux (author of this preset): Camels and Zebras may directly leap on the first move while Knights may not. I would have tried to put the Knights on the 3rd rank and, in exchange, move the Guards on the 2nd rank or maybe on the 1st rank with the Bishops on the 2nd rank.
