Variant 2 plays with pawn promotion to Jumping-General.
'Great Shatranj-a' Pawn promotion is to a captured piece only.
Notes
I did notice this here on the game page
https://www.chessvariants.com/rules/great-shatranj
where Joe says 'Several people have suggested that the pawns get an initial double step.'
Joe and I realeased 'The Shortrange Project' which has games nearly exactly like this game with the pawn double step.
Difference is instead of the 'General', which one square all directions, we have a piece that slides 1-2 squares on the queen lines.
