The Princess and The Warrior

This is a rules file for Zillions of Games, a Windows program that will let you play any puzzle or strategy board game you can feed it the rules to. With Zillions-of-Games installed, this rules file will let you play this game against your computer.

Rules are as in standard Chess with the following differences.

Pieces' movement is limited depending on what rank they are on. If they are on the first or second rank they can only move one square, on the third rank two squares, on the fourth rank three squares, and so on.

Knights are replaced by the Princess and the Warrior, whose movement does not depend on their rank. They both move like a Queen, but can only capture one square diagonally or orthogonally, respectively.

Pieces and Pawns initially placed one rank forward.

Pawns do not have a double step and can promote to Princess, Warrior, or Queen. There is no castling. Stalemating opponent also wins.

The ZRF also includes the variation "Rank Up Chess", which is essentially the same but with a FIDE setup.
