The game requires a 9 x 9 board. On ranks 2 to 8, pieces are morphed according to the rules (see below). There is no morphing on ranks 1 and 9.
Setup
Pieces
Standard pieces with standard move options. Details in the rule section.
Rules
Except for the following changes, the Fide rules apply.
There is no capturing en passant, castling and promotion of pawns takes place.
Bare king loses. Stalemate is a win.

The pieces move as in standard chess.
Ranks 1 and 9
There is no morphing on ranks 1 and 9.
Rank 2 and 8
On ranks 2 and 8 there are only pawns or pieces are morphed into pawns to enable pawn promotion.
Ranks 3 to 7
The pieces are bound to columns.
In this area, pieces are morphed to:
- rooks on a and i files,
- knights on b and h files,
- bishops on c and g files and to
- queens on d and f files.
E-file
There is no morphing on the e-file.
